How & Why We Contact People

We primarily contact people on our lists by mail, unless we are being referred by another party who has contacted us. We prefer to make our initial contacts by mail so we do not disturb individuals while they are busy doing other things.

Of course, we initially attempt to find the owner directly. If we are unable to find them, we mail contact letters to people who may be relatives, neighbors or who currently live at the address of record. For a company that is no longer in business, we mail contact letters to the officers on the corporation records.

Strangely, many times the asset owner is not "missing" at all. Sometimes the name and address we obtain are the same as the claimant’s current address. We have no explanation for this, but it is fairly certain you are owed this money if you are on the list.

If the asset owner is a deceased relative, or is a company that is no longer in business, the asset generally passes to heirs or successors.
